What you should know about The Holmes A Court Gallery

Art Gallery in Perth, Court in Perth

This exhibition features works from the Janet Holmes Court Collection which depict special places in the southwest and immense southern areas of Western Australia. Featured alongside these, are the works of Noongar and yoga artists who were invited to participate in the exhibition by responding with their own depictions of the identical places. This exhibition is a beginning of sorts, to reach to terms with some of the true history of our being in these places. I invited Noongar and yoga artists of the Bibbulman Nation to participate by responding to the place named collection works by including a labor of their own that spoke in some way about one of these places. What they have included here are works that depict land, surface and movement, atmosphere, color and light of places. They share experience and history and cold, firm facts, arrive back to stories of a dream time creation past, reiterate and remind of a continuing presence of a people moving through the land, temporary and moving with the times but not temporary in substance and essence. About this place brings together a scanty conversations. These works are a wonderfully subtle expression of Aboriginal identity through the depiction of the Central Australian landscape the artists' traditional lands.

The artists had to come up with a new model if they wanted to continue showing their labor in WA. Included in the exhibition will be works from the Janet Holmes Court Collection, works from the artists' collections, and family ephemera objects and documentation. The homage is a means of setting a context to my artistic production. She will be tomorrow to Perth for the opening and will be with us for impartial two days. From a starting point of group shows in the hasty 1990s, these artists of Yirrkala developed individual profiles with awards, solo shows and divide gallery representation. Featuring a selection of works from some of the key themes throughout Whiteley's career, the exhibition includes images of the artist's muse in his studio. Barks are a potent focus of The Holmes Collection and the works in this exhibition are fair a insignificant selection of the many artists and regions represented. Succeeding the artists visit to Western Australia former this year, this exhibition features three interpretations and experiences of our landscape by three talented and collectible young artists. And so I began to paint them like you would a quiet life. In the 1980's he Sagan painting mostly figurative works, using a combination of acrylic paints and spontaneous earth pigments on canvas. The artist will be in Perth for the exhibition. The exhibition will include sculptures, associated drawings, and recent paintings. Let’s not think of these paintings as landscapes but instead as observations of the human condition. The exhibition and publication will donate a selection of the art being produced currently by artists in each of the four art centers. It is coincidental that the works selected reflects the range of media collected over the years and demonstrate quite strongly the eclectic and personal nature of the Janet Holmes Court Collection. Her starting point in recent years is usually something in nature. She is a versatile and passionate artist whose love for the country is reflected in each canvas she paints. The traditions of landscape painting in Australia have moved from a position of nationalistic pride to contemporary experiences of store and space. The works in this exhibition document her process and give evidence to the beauty of details. Slow down a little observe, experience and record. Your images will contribute to our growing palette of place. The Holmes Court Collection was committed to collecting the total projects as a permanent record of community group activity, and also tracking the development of Emily as an individual artist. These events provide opportunities for conversation, discussions and dispute about art and Australian culture, and promote the gallery’s contribution to the community. The purpose of the day is to permit for the raising and sharing of important ideas.
