The Property Council is committed to building a diverse and inclusive industry. This includes establishing and funding the Property Male Champions of Change who are working to attain a meaningful and sustainable increase in the number of women in senior leadership positions in the property industry. It involves a personal commitment from Property Council members to champion women in their organization or business sphere, who they believe would earnings from further networking and professional development opportunities. The Property Council established the Property Male Champions of Change in 2015 to drive greater gender equality in the property industry and increase the number of women in leadership roles. The Property Male Champions of Change is convened by Carol Schwartz AM, previous Property Council President, and brings together senior leaders across the industry’s development and construction, investment, funds management and agency sectors to receive action to improve gender equality in the industry. The formation of the Property Male Champions of Change builds on the Property Council's diversity program and is a public commitment by the Champions to use their individual and collective leadership to increase gender equality with a focus on leadership, talent development, public advocacy and accountability. Why are you focusing on gender equality specifically, rather than diversity more broadly? Do the Property Male Champions have to commit to participating in all agreed actions? The Panel Pledge is a commitment made by any speaker requested to participate in a panel or forum, to ask the organizer about the gender balance of the program and highlight their commitment to diversity. It involves actively encouraging women voices in our industry and persevering to accomplish change. It is also urgent that leaders in your organization champion diversity to ensure it is an organizational priority and this is communicated throughout the organization. With encourage from E, the Property Male Champions of change conducted milestone research on the barriers to women entering and thriving in the property industry. The Property Council’s Women and Diversity committees are focused on increasing the participation of women in the industry and the number of women in leadership roles through providing and championing specific networking, professional development and mentoring opportunities. These events produce opportunities for our members to construct their professional networks and industry knowledge as well as enlarge their profile by being keynote speakers or participating on panels. This award offers the opportunity for individuals to showcase their win in the retirement living industry and to be recognized by their peers.The award reflects the industry’s commitment for supporting the next generation of leaders and demonstrates the crucial contribution this industry makes to the Australian economy. As a member, you contribute to this important work by participating in committees and Property Council forums that assist shape our advocacy, as healthy as joining our extensive member networks. The Property Council also provides leading professional development opportunities, particular research across all sectors and the opportunity to connect with other members throughout the country. It is responsible for growing jobs, building stronger communities and contributing so much to the national economy. The Property Council of Australia advocates on behalf of those who invest, own and develop property, as well as the businesses that assist build our communities.
