The band was formed in 1973 initially as a band to serve as a backup group for other established acts in the Bay. The band started out by playing live shows and making numerous demos. In 2002, the band released their second studio album, Believe, that debuted at the top of the charts. They began to get attuned to the more popular style in those times in the likes of Boston and Foreigner. The band finally hit gold with their forth album Infinity in 1978 along with a fresh precede singer in the name of Steve Perry. It was then followed by numerous other albums that was received with more popularity by fans especially with their new sound below Steve Perry. The single was labeled as the most played song in 2001 and was named the number one song of the year by Billboard Hot 100 without ever reaching the top spot on any of the charts that year. It was only the third song in music history to be given that distinction. Behind a long tour, the band then went to make and free their second album, Stanley Climbfall. The win of their second offering was concise lived and was over shadowed by the win of their beginning album. The Mars Volta is an American progressive rock band that hails from Long Beach, California. Generally considered as a progressive rock band, Mars Volta is obvious for their music with punk, jazz and Latin music influences. The side project became Mars Volta in 2001 when Bixler Zavala and Rodriguez Lopez decided to end their stint as members of At the driven, citing creative suffocation and frustration over the band’s growing win on the mainstream. The album became a hit, both critically and commercially, selling over 500,00 copies despite very limited promotion given to it. It was also well received commercially, qualified to sell 123,00 copies in its first week and debuting at the fourth spot on the Billboard Album charts. Rex was an English rock band that achieved victory in the 70’s as a glam rock group. The band really gained their win when they switched to playing music with a correct rock sound. This era began with the release of the band’s album titled T. the album began to carry a more pop oriented rock sound. The band then released their second album, Electric Warrior in 1971. This was considered by many to be the band’s best album and brought more success to the group. The single of the album, Get It On, became a hit both in the UK and US Charts. Their second album, Shine On was released on August of 2006 but was not able to match the win of their debut album. The band is working on their third album that is scheduled to be released sometime at the last of 2008 or premature 2009. The band was revived in 200 when Corey Taylor was approached by fellow Stone Sour band member and began to create songs. This was also the year that the band began to change their musical style towards a more adult approach.
