Protection of WA’s environment by providing individuals and community groups with environmental legal services including advice, education, representation and opportunity to participate in reform of laws affecting the environment. Teamwork comes naturally because everyone involved wants to be here. Volunteering at the EDP has provided me with an opportunity apply the skills I learn at law school to aid a diverse group of people protect the environment. Upon my return to Western Australia, I continued to labor for a period for a junior oil and gas company. We would not be thriving without the commitment of outstanding and passionate people, dedicated to protecting WA's environment. The legal practice is managed by a Principal Solicitor, who is assisted by staff and volunteers. Alex Gardner is a Professor of Law at the University of Western Australia and has more than 30 years’ experience as an environmental lawyer across Australia. Since that time he has pursued a strong interest in environmental protection and better environmental laws through positions in the State and Commonwealth public sector and as a parliamentary researcher for the Greens (WA). She is a committee member of the National Environmental Law Association (WA Chapter) and has a potent interest in environmental law and public interest litigation. She has done remarkable work in building alliances across all community sectors and in the maximum remote communities of outback Western Australia. He was an energetic supporter of the establishment of the EDOWA in the 1990’s and has been involved with the EDP throughout most of its 20 year history. Supported by a powerful team of volunteers, we are active hard to protect the WA environment. Through his professional legal experience, Deccan has a detailed understanding of all aspects of environmental law, including environmental impact assessment, water management, biodiversity conservation, climate change, Aboriginal heritage, mining and land access, and human rights.
