Meat Livestock Australia Limited (LA) delivers research, development and marketing services to Australia's cattle, sheep and goat producers. Working in collaboration with the Australian Government and wider red meat industry, LA's mission is to deliver value to levy payers by investing in initiatives that contribute to producer profitability, sustainability and global competitiveness. LA works closely with the Goat Industry Council of Australia, seeking producer input on levy investment and increasing the on farm productivity, profitability and sustainability of goat producers. LA works with supply chain partners on projects that deliver value to the red meat industry beyond the farm gate. LA is implementing a new regional consultation framework for directing research, development and adoption (RDA) investment for grassed cattle and sheep meat levies. It enables transparency in the process of priority setting, project assessment, external peer review processes, and the achievement of outputs and outcomes from RDA investment. The process enables a two way flow of information utilizing a bottom up, top down system of information flow involving testing of RDA concepts as healthy as identifying regional RDA priorities. The pinnacle industry councils for the cattle, sheep and goat industries play a critical role in providing direction and monitoring of industry marketing and research and development programs to LA, to ensure they reflect the strategic framework of the red meat industry.
